Welcome to the latest edition of Glofiish News.
June saw buyers and media from around the world congregate to E-TEN's home city of Taipei for Computex, one of the top-three international tradeshows, during which E-TEN unveiled four new Glofiish Pocket PC Phones which will be available over the next few months, while also walking away with a prestigious Best Choice of Computex Award, more details below.
Also in this edition we reveal some of the interesting findings from our recent Glofiish user survey, thanks to everyone that participated.
 
World's first dual-SIM Windows Mobile Pocket PC wins Best Choice of Computex award
 
E-TEN was awarded the Best Choice of Computex accolade for its new Glofiish DX900 – the world’s first dual-SIM & dual standby Windows Mobile handset to support HSDPA and EDGE.

The DX900 allows you to have uninterrupted access to two separate phone services, for example one for business and one personal, or one for calls and another for data, in a single device. Frequent business travelers can use a local SIM card and home SIM card in the same device at the same time.
The Glofiish DX900 features support for both high-speed 3.5G (UMTS/HSDPA) and 2G (GSM/EDGE) communications, as well as GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity, a high-resolution VGA display, 3-megapixel auto-focus camera, and the latest windows Mobile 6.1 platform.

Look out for the DX900 at local Glofiish retailers starting in the fourth quarter.
E-TEN user-survey results
E-TEN conducted a large scale online end-user survey in early May this year. By conducting this survey, we collected a lot of valuable information from our users and by analyzing the data collected from the survey we have gained a better understanding of the features you want to see in future Glofiish products.

In the end, more than 12,000 people responded to the survey. Here we would like to share some interesting findings.
  1. 95% of respondents were male. This proves that the major user group for smartphones is still male-centric. However, device manufacturers should not overlook the other half of the market. We believe female users will also become smartphone users as long as form factor and design fit their expectations.
  2. More than 40% of the respondents said they have owned more than two Pocket PC Phones. This means that the market for replacement is big and device manufacturers should pay more attention on product lifecycle management and the time-to-market of new devices
  3. More than 90% of respondents think Wi-Fi is a must-have feature even for devices that support fast data networks such as UMTS and HSDPA. This means people want more than one solution for high-speed data connectivity in their devices.
  4. Almost 80% of respondents said they appreciate the concept of a dual-SIM handset and would consider buying one. This means that the dual-SIM market will start growing up fast. It also proved that E-TEN is a pioneer in the smartphone market to echoing end users expectations by launching the first dual-SIM Windows Mobile device, the Glofiish DX900.
  5. Only 12% of respondents are interesting in a device with WiMAX instead of Wi-Fi.
More than 87% of respondents commented that Glofiish products are of "good" or "excellent" quality. E-TEN is happy to see such a response, but we will keep working hard to improve our quality and enhance the confidence level people have of Glofiish smartphones in the future.
